TBM for Developmental Disabilities Crisis Intervention Training for Staff Serving Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
“Therapeutic Behavior Management for People with Developmental Disabilities” (TBM/DD)brings the most applicable skills and insights of TACT2 to settings serving older youth and adults with developmental disabilities.
TBM/DD respects the rights and dignity of adults with developmental disabilities, while teaching staff how to better manage their challenging behaviors. Requiring 12-16 hours to complete, the TBM/DD course helps providers respond to both deliberate behavior and emotional crisis, while maintaining strong professional judgement. TBM/DD also offers optional training in self-protection, holds, and full restraints, if needed. Click to download a full sample of TBM/DD workbook.
How do I get more info about TBM/DD?
TBM/DD Training. As with all our crisis intervention programs, TBM/DD must be delivered by a certified instructor who has completed a 2-day (verbal only) or 4-day (verbal + physical) instructor training. You may join any scheduled TACT2 or TBM training of trainers to train in this program, or contract with Dr. Parese to conduct on on-site training of trainers (min 10). (Current TACT2 trainers may cross-train in TBM/DD for a small additional fee of $150/person, including basic materials).
